Shankang Li: Jing’an’s Favourite Courtyard for Pizza, BBQ, and Craft Beer
Shankang Li (陕康里) — one of Jing’an’s most energetic outdoor courtyards, converted from a historic food factory into a pet-friendly hub of pizza, BBQ, craft beer, and late-night skating cocktails.

Situated at the intersection of Shaanxi North Road and Kangding Road (hence the name Shan-Kang), this open-air pedestrian compound is made up of sunny terraces and some of Shanghai’s best restaurants. The space offers a relaxed atmosphere for easy patio brunches, dog-friendly seating, and effortless transitions from afternoon coffee to late-night drinks.

Top Spots in Shankang Li
- Alimentari Grill — Charcoal-grilled meats, Italian deli boards, and a buzzing outdoor spritz terrace. The natural anchor for a long, sun-soaked dinner.
- Homeslice Pizza — Shanghai’s favourite crisp NY-style sourdough pizza, sold by the slice or as a whole pie. Grab a courtyard table, order cold draft beer, and watch the space buzz.
- Totino Panino — High-stacked, authentic Italian ciabatta sandwiches loaded with mortadella and burrata. Arguably the best panini in Shanghai.
- Tap House — A craft beer staple with dozens of rotating draft taps and relaxed courtyard benches. The easy afternoon default.
- PARLAY — A modern multi-screen sports bar and lounge for live matches and pints, and yes, BBQ. Lively, loud, and exactly what you want for an evening of football or UFC.
- RIINK — A retro-neon roller-skating bar serving cocktails and diner-style bites. Lace up quad skates, grab a drink, and do a few laps under the lights.
- Drunk Baker — A neighbourhood bakery staple for takeaway loaves, pastries, and sweet treats, and the perfect late-night exit for sea-salt cookies and Sunday-morning sourdough.

Suggested Saturday Afternoon & Evening Itinerary
- 1:00 PM — Courtyard Pizza Lunch at Homeslice: Grab outdoor seats for quick sourdough slices, garlic knots, and cold draft beers while watching the courtyard buzz.
- 3:00 PM — Sunny Aperitivo & Patio Drinks: Wander over to the outdoor tables at Tap House for local craft IPAs, or cross the lane to Azul for a pitcher of sangria in the sun.
- 5:30 PM — Fun & Social Warm-Up at RIINK: Lace up some retro quad skates for a few fun laps around the neon rink with a cocktail in hand. (Alternative: head over to Totino Panino and try the best panini in Shanghai!)
- 7:00 PM — Italian Grill Dinner at Alimentari Grill: Settle into a long dinner of Italian dishes — roasted meats, fish, pasta, fresh burrata, and your drink of choice. Aperol spritz if you’re feeling fancy.
- 9:30 PM — Sports & Casual Drinks at PARLAY: Catch evening live football and UFC screenings over pints and shots with a lively crowd.
- Late Night Exit — Sweet Finish at Drunk Baker: Grab fresh sea-salt cookies, pastries, or a takeaway sourdough loaf for Sunday morning before leaving.
